Labor and Employment Law

Jacksonville Employment Law  Attorney - Lawyer, providing experienced Labor Law and Employment Law legal Services in Jacksonville, Hilliard, Duval County, Nassau County and the surrounding Northeast Florida areas.

Under Florida law, and individual may be fired for any reason. Employees in Florida who are employed without contracts are considered to be at-will, meaning that they can be dismissed at the discretion of their employer at any time and for any reason. The federal and state employment discrimination and retaliation laws essentially provide an exception to the employment at-will doctrine.

There are many aspects of employment law that have been addressed by both State and Federal Legislature to protect the employee from unlawful employment practices, procedures, and policies often used by an employer.

Even with these employee protection laws, employers sometimes ignore the law and their responsibility to treat their employees fairly, or properly protect employees from discrimination, harassment or other unfair employment conditions or situations.

In the event an employer fails to adhere to  the lawful obligations they have toward their employees, they may be subjected to an employment law legal claim by an employee for the purpose of recovering lost or denied wages which they are entitled, or to seek damages for the infractions committed against them.
